- [Creation Notes] Created by the Greeks Didyma was not an ancient city of the Ionian League but a temple of Apollo which contained the most important oracle of Apollo Branchidae in during the Hellenistic world. The temple and sanctuary was destroyed by the Persian King Xerxes in 479 BCE. It was rebuilt but never fully restored but it remains the third largest building of the ancient world.
